Event 13: Hoang Tran Leads Flight 1D of the $500 Monster Stack

Flight 1D of Event 13: the $500 Monster Stack wrapped up Friday evening at Orange City Poker as the field continued to build toward the $200,000 guaranteed prize pool.

The flight drew 81 entries, with 11 players advancing to Day 2. Hoang Tran finished atop the Flight 1D field with 724,000 in chips.

Tran is already having a strong May Deep Stack Series after capturing Event 4: the $300 Five Card PLO High Only event earlier in the week for $4,961. The Davenport, Florida player has found much of his tournament success in Omaha variants, including a sixth-place finish in a $600 Pot Limit Omaha event during the 2024 Lucky Hearts Poker Open for $8,185 and a runner-up finish in a Pot Limit Omaha event at the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa Signature Poker Series for $7,710.

The $500 Monster Stack utilizes a best stack forward format, allowing players to continue firing additional flights after advancing. Players who qualify multiple times for Day 2 earn a $1,500 bonus from the prize pool for each additional bag, up to three total bags.
