This weekend, we are excited to welcome a special guest from our sister property, Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack in West Virginia, Gary Kiedaisch.
Gary arrived in Orange City on Thursday, jumped right into the action with some cash games, and is now making a strong run in our tournament after winning his seat in a satellite event back in Wheeling. Along with his seat, he picked up travel expense money to make the trip south. As of this interview, he was just three players away from advancing to Day 2, a goal that is firmly in his sights.
A poker enthusiast for the past 20 years, Gary admits his time at the tables has been a bit off and on, especially while focusing on his wife’s health in recent years. Over the past year, though, he has been able to return to the game he loves. He is quick to point out he is not a professional, just a player who enjoys the challenge, camaraderie, and fun that poker brings.
Back home in Wheeling, Gary is enjoying retirement after a 35-year career in Operations Planning for a steel company. While the idea of bringing a trophy back to West Virginia is certainly appealing, his focus for now is simply on advancing to the next stage of the tournament.
We are thrilled to have Gary here at Orange City Poker and will be following his progress closely. Best of luck, Gary, the entire Wheeling Island and Orange City Poker family is rooting for you!
