Vargas entered the event with $28,087 in reported lifetime earnings, highlighted by his win in March’s Spring Classic at Daytona Beach for $22,393. His Harvest Deep Stack victory adds another strong result to his growing list of accomplishments at the property.
The event drew 296 entries, surpassing its $100,000 guarantee and generating a total prize pool of $128,760. The one day format produced steady action throughout as a mix of local players and visitors competed for the top spots.
When play reached three handed, Vargas, Ritchie, and Phillip Krnyaich remained. Krnyaich went on to finish in third place for $13,500, leaving Vargas and Ritchie nearly even to begin heads up play. With only a small difference between their stacks, the two agreed to a chop that awarded Vargas the top payout and the title.
