Play moved quickly after four-handed action resumed, with three eliminations occurring in short order.

Senthil Elumalai was the first to fall, finishing in 5th place for $9,687. Michael Scalice followed in 4th place, earning $12,842, before Alexander Kimpel’s impressive run ended in 3rd place for $17,258.

That leaves Clayton Mullinax and Jeff Elliott heads-up for the Almighty Stack title, trophy, and the $37,955 first-place prize.

21:15- Level 30: 500,000/300,000/500,000

Michael Scalice found a much-needed double-up against Jeff Elliott after the two players got their chips in preflop.

Scalice tabled K♥ Q♥ against Elliott’s A♥ 7♠. The board ran out 10♣ 8♠ K♣ 7♥ 9♦, pairing Scalice’s king to earn him the pot.

The double-up lifted Scalice to approximately 9 million in chips, while Elliott slipped to around 13 million as four players remained in contention for the Almighty Stack title.

21:10- Level 30: 500,000/300,000/500,000

Senthil Elumalai moved all in for 4.3 million over a 1 million button raise from Clayton Mullinax, who quickly made the call.

Elumalai tabled 10♦ 10♥, while Mullinax revealed pocket kings. The flop came out 4♣ Q♠ 4♥ leaving Elumalai in tough shape. A miracle 10♠ on the turn flipped the tables as Mullinax needed one of two outs to win and eliminate Elumalai. The river 5♦, provided no such luck as Elumalai doubles up through Mullinax.

Austin Basque’s impressive run came to an end in 6th place, earning $7,386.

Jeff Elliott opened to 1.2 million before Basque defended from the small blind. Senthil Elumalai folded, sending the two players heads-up to a flop of J-5-7. Basque moved all in and Elliott made the instant call.

Basque held top pair with a backdoor flush draw, but Elliott had flopped a set to take a commanding lead. The turn brought a 9, giving Basque hope and 4 outs. The river, however, was a blank, and Elliott’s set held to eliminate Basque.

Alexander Kimpel opened to 1 million from the button and Clayton Mullinax came along to see a flop.

The flop fell 6♠ 5♠ 4♦, and both players checked. After the K♥ arrived on the turn, Mullinax checked again. Kimpel fired 1.1 million, and Mullinax made the call.

The river brought the Q♣. Mullinax checked for a third time before Kimpel bet 2 million. After taking a moment to consider his decision, Mullinax released his hand, sending another healthy pot to Kimpel.

20:45- Level 29: 400,000/200,000/400,000

Senthil Elumalai opened to 1.4 million on the button before Michael Scalice moved all in from the small blind for 2.5 million. Elumalai quickly called.

Scalice tabled A♠ J♣ and was in commanding shape against Elumalai’s K♠ 5♠. The board ran out 9♥ A♦ A♥ 3♦ A♣, giving Scalice quad aces and a full double-up.

Following the hand, Scalice increased his stack to approximately 6.8 million, while Elumalai dropped to roughly 2.5 million.

20:45- Level 29: 400,000/200,000/400,000

Clayton Mullinax raised to 800,000 from the button before Austin Basque folded. Action reached Senthil Elumalai in the big blind, who responded by moving all in for 4.2 million.

Mullinax gave it some thought before electing to fold, surrendering the pot to Elumalai. The uncontested shove boosted Elumalai’s stack to approximately 5.5 million with five players remaining in the Almighty Stack.

Clayton Mullinax opened to 800,000 from middle position and was called by Michael Scalice in the big blind.

The flop came A♥ Q♣ 5♣. Scalice checked, Mullinax continued for 1 million, and Scalice called. The J♦ landed on the turn, prompting another check from Scalice before Mullinax fired 1.2 million. Scalice again made the call.

When the 4♦ completed the board, Scalice checked for a third time. Mullinax applied pressure with a 1.6 million river bet. After a lengthy tank, Scalice looked him up, only to see Mullinax table A♣ 10♣ for top pair. Scalice mucked, dropping to approximately 2.3 million in chips, while Mullinax extended his stack to around 19 million.

Alexander Kimpel opened to 800,000 from the cutoff and was called by Austin Basque in the big blind.

The flop came 4♣ K♣ J♣, and Basque quickly moved all in for 2.3 million holding K♦ 7♦ for top pair. Kimpel called with Q♣ 2♦, giving him the queen-high flush draw.

The turn brought the J♦, and the river fell the 7♥, securing the double-up. After the hand, Kimpel slipped to approximately 16 million in chips, while Basque climbed to 6.6 million.

Michael Scalice moved all in for 4 million from the cutoff, putting the pressure on the remaining players. Action folded around to Clayton Mullinax in the big blind, who took a moment before releasing his hand.

With the fold, Scalice collected the blinds and antes uncontested, adding a valuable pot to his stack as the six-handed final table continued.

Alexander Kimpel opened to 600,000 from the hijack before action folded to Austin Basque in the small blind. Basque moved all in for 4 million, putting the pressure back on Kimpel.

Kimpel spent several moments in the tank before electing to fold. Basque then flashed the A♣ 7♣ as he dragged in the pot without a showdown, adding another valuable pot to his stack with six players remaining.

Eric Bullock moved all in for 950,000 from the cutoff and was called by Senthil Elumalai.

Bullock tabled A♥ J♣ and found himself racing against Elumalai’s 8♦ 8♠. The board ran out K♦ 9♣ Q♦ Q♥ 6♦, offering Bullock no help and sending the pot to Elumalai.

Bullock was eliminated in 7th place, earning $5,716, while Elumalai increased his stack to 7.6 million as six players remained in contention for the Almighty Stack title.

William Farnan’s run in the Almighty Stack came to an end in 8th place, earning $4,491. and leaving the remaining seven players one step closer to the $37,955 first-place prize and the Almighty Stack title.

The unofficial final table was set in quick succession as two more players exited the Almighty Stack.

First, Todd Aylwin was eliminated in 10th place, earning $2,858. Moments later, Pablo Monge followed in 9th place, collecting $3,563.

With Monge’s elimination, the tournament reached its eight-handed final table. The remaining players are now guaranteed at least $4,491 as they continue their pursuit of the $37,955 first-place prize and the Almighty Stack title.

Day 2 overall chip leader David “Moose” Hughes saw his impressive run come to an end in 11th place, earning $2,858.

After topping Flight 1A with the largest starting stack of any returning player, Hughes remained in contention deep into Day 2 before his tournament concluded just outside of the final table.

Flight 1C chip leader Justin Matecki saw his impressive Almighty Stack run come to an end in 12th place, earning $2,969.

Todd Aylwin opened to 400,000 before Clayton Mullinax defended his big blind. The flop came 2♥ 7♣ K♦, and after Mullinax checked, Aylwin continued for 200,000. Mullinax called to see the K♣ on the turn, where both players checked.

The 2♣ completed the board, and Mullinax led for 750,000. After a brief pause, Aylwin released his hand, conceding the pot.

Austin Basque opened the action to 400,000 before Kara Swayze moved all in for 1,475,000 from the small blind. Basque quickly made the call.

Swayze tabled A♣A♦ and was in commanding shape against Basque’s Q♠J♠. The flop came J♥ 10♠ 7♦, pairing Basque’s jack while Swayze’s aces remained in front. The A♠ on the turn improved Swayze to a set but also gave Basque a royal flush draw in addition to his straight draw.

The river brought the Q♣, giving two pair to Basque but not improving enough to beat Swayze’s set.

Michael Scalice moved all in for approximately 1.4 million from the cutoff with 10♣10♠ and was called by chip leader Todd Aylwin holding A♠J♠.

The board ran out 8♣ 7♦ 8♥ Q♠ 3♣, allowing Scalice’s pocket tens to hold for a full double up. The pot boosted Scalice’s stack while Aylwin relinquished a portion of his lead, falling to approximately 8.3 million in chips.

18:00 – Level 26: 200,000/100,000/200,000

Brad Peterson committed his final 650,000 chips before William Farnan immediately moved all in over the top for 1,050,000. Action folded to David “Moose” Hughes, who spent several moments in the tank before making the call with A♣Q♣.

Farnan tabled 4♥4♦, while Peterson showed Q♠7♦. The board ran out clean, allowing Farnan’s pocket fours to hold against both opponents. Farnan tripled up to approximately 2.9 million, while Hughes slipped to about 2.7 million.

Peterson was eliminated in 14th place, earning $2,338 for his deep run in the Almighty Stack.

Down to fewer than 10 big blinds, David Levy found a spot to commit his stack after Pablo Monge moved all in from the small blind.

Levy called with A♥Q♥, looking to improve against Monge’s pocket sevens. The board offered no help, allowing Monge’s pair to hold and send Levy to the rail in 15th place.

Levy earned $2,338 for his deep run as the Almighty Stack field continued to shrink.

One of the most dramatic moments of Day 2 came with Jose Martins’ tournament life hanging in the balance.

Facing an all-in, the action was paused as a floor ruling was requested to determine whether Martins had released his remaining chips into the pot before verbally declaring “call,” or if the verbal declaration came first. After deliberation, tournament staff ruled that Martins had committed his chips to the pot prior to making any verbal statement, making the raise binding and putting his tournament life at risk.

Martins was unable to survive the showdown and was eliminated in 16th place, earning $1,911. With his departure, the remaining players were guaranteed at least $2,338, while the eventual champion remained on course for the tournament’s $37,955 first-place prize.

17:30 – Level 25: 150,000/75,000/150,000

Tim Shortell’s run in the Almighty Stack came to an end in 17th place, good for $1,911.

A familiar face in Daytona Beach tournament fields, Shortell has consistently found success on the local circuit with numerous deep runs and final table appearances over the years. His latest cash adds another strong finish to that résumé as the field narrowed toward the final two tables.

After Justin Matecki opened to 325,000, action folded around to Kara Swayze, who moved all in for approximately 1.5 million. The players in Seats 3 and 4 quickly released their hands before the action returned to original raiser Justin Matecki.

Matecki thought it over before electing to fold, awarding the pot to Swayze without a showdown. After the hand, Swayze admitted she hadn’t realized Matecki was still in the pot.

“I didn’t even realize your were still in the hand,” Swayze said with a laugh. “But I did have a good hand.”

 

17:05 – Level 25: 150,000/75,000/150,000

Anthony DeCresci found a premium holding but couldn’t fade the river after getting all of his chips in preflop against Jeffrey Elliott.

DeCresci tabled pocket queens while Elliott held the A♥J♥. The flop came K♣ J♦ 4♠, pairing Elliott’s jack but leaving DeCresci ahead. The 10♣ on the turn gave Elliott additional outs with a Broadway draw before the Q♥ fell on the river, improving DeCresci to a set of queens while simultaneously completing Elliott’s Broadway straight.

DeCresci was eliminated in 18th place, earning $1,911, while Elliott collected the pot to increase his stack to approximately 6.6 million in chips.

 

14:20 – Level 23: 100,000/50,000/100,000 – The $150,000 Guaranteed Almighty Stack has been reduced to 21 players as Day 2 continues at Daytona Beach Poker. Play is now underway in Level 23, with blinds at 50,000/100,000 and a 100,000 Big Blind Ante.

The players who led their respective starting flights have continued to make their presence felt deep into Day 2. David “Moose” Hughes, Justin Matecki, Kim Unger, Clayton Mullinax, and Senthil Elumalai remain in contention after each topped a starting flight earlier in the week.

Two flight chip leaders have fallen, however, as Mark Marcellus and Corey Zedo were eliminated before the field reached its final 21 players.

With the tournament now closing in on the final table, the remaining flight leaders are still in the hunt for the $37,955 first-place prize and the Almighty Stack title.
