Guoan “Sushi” Phan Finishes 3rd

Guoan “Sushi” Phan’s deep run in the Quarter Million Multi-Room Mayhem came to an end in 3rd place, earning him $33,212.

In Hand #122, with blinds at 600,000/300,000/600,000, Sushi limped from the button and Don Tenney moved all in for 21 million with A♣K♠. Luke Becker folded, and Sushi called with Q♣10♥ for his whole 20 million. The flop came A♥J♠3♦, pairing Don’s ace and giving Sushi an inside straight draw. The turn brought the Q♦, adding a pair to Sushi’s outs, but the river 6♦ sealed the hand for Don and ended Sushi’s tournament.

Sushi, a well-known regular in the PLO games at Orange City, was a fan favorite throughout the tournament thanks to his aggressive style and constant pressure on opponents. Speaking after his elimination, he said, “Pretty good. Nice game. It was a good game.” When asked what is next, he laughed and admitted that while he loves the cash games, especially PLO, he might take a little time to rest before getting back to the action.

Congratulations to Guoan “Sushi” Phan on an outstanding performance and for bringing his exciting style of play to the inaugural Quarter Million Multi-Room Mayhem.
