Experience Triumphs Over Youth

Don Tenney of Edgewater, Florida claimed the title in the inaugural Quarter Million Multi-Room Mayhem, topping a 2,423-entry field to win $72,200, the largest score of his poker career.

In the final hand, with blinds at 1,000,000/500,000/1,000,000, Luke Becker limped the button with A♠7♦. Don moved all in for 50 million with A♦6♦, and Luke called for his tournament life with 18 million. The board ran out 9♦ Q♠ 7♥ 8♣ 5♥, pairing Luke’s seven on the flop but giving Don a straight on the river to lock up the win.

Don’s path to victory began in Daytona Beach, where he qualified before taking his seat in Orange City for the finale. A regular at Daytona Beach Poker, this was his first time playing at Orange City, and he enjoyed the experience. “I really enjoyed it here,” he said. “It’s great to be able to feature both rooms for players who don’t usually get to visit the other location.”

Reflecting on the victory, Don called it his biggest poker memory. “I’ve won $20,000 in a tournament before, but this is my biggest,” he shared. He praised Tournament Director Byron Rodriguez and team for running an excellent event, noting the long hours and dedication behind the scenes.

As for what is next, Don said there will be some home improvements before taking some well-earned rest after several long days of play.

Congratulations to Don Tenney, the first-ever Quarter Million Multi-Room Mayhem champion.
